Garment Worker Killed in Mymensingh Over Blasphemy Allegation

A shocking and brutal killing has taken place in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, following an allegation of religious insult. The victim, Dipu Chandra Das (28), was a garment worker at a local factory.

According to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-14), Dipu was forced to resign from his job before he was killed. RAB officials said the incident shows serious negligence by factory authorities and raises strong questions about law and public safety.

Forced Resignation Before Death

RAB-14 Director Naimul Hasan told journalists that Dipu was pressured by factory management to resign from his job. The incident began at around 4:00 PM, when the floor manager of Pioneer Knitwears BD Limited allegedly forced Dipu to submit his resignation.

After taking his resignation, instead of ensuring his safety or handing him over to the police, the factory officials handed him over to an angry crowd.

RAB said this decision played a key role in the tragic outcome.

Arrests Made

Due to this serious failure, RAB has arrested several people, including:

• Alamgir Hossain (38) – Floor Manager

• The factory’s Quality In-Charge

• Miraj Hossain Akon (46)

RAB stated that the factory authorities failed to protect Dipu’s life, which is why they were taken into custody.

No Clear Evidence Found

RAB Director Naimul Hasan said that investigators have not yet found clear proof of what Dipu allegedly said or to whom he said it.

“We tried many times to find out what exactly was said and to whom, but no one could give a clear answer,” he said.

He also added that investigators are checking whether personal rivalry or other hidden motives were involved.

Brutal Killing Not Acceptable Under Law

RAB strongly condemned the killing and said such actions can never be justified.

“Killing a person based on an allegation, hanging him from a tree, and then burning his body is completely unacceptable under the law,” Naimul Hasan said.
“The government and law-enforcement agencies do not support this kind of brutality.”

Incident Sparks Protest

The killing happened on Thursday night in Bhaluka. Dipu was first beaten to death, and later his body was set on fire. Following the incident, angry protests broke out, and the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway was blocked for nearly two hours, causing panic and heavy traffic congestion.
