Terror Strike Averted in NCR: Huge Explosive Cache Found, Suspects Arrested
Police have foiled a planned attack in the Delhi–NCR region after coordinated raids uncovered a large cache of explosive-making materials, weapons and bomb-making equipment. The operation involved multiple state police units working together and led to several arrests linked to an inter-state terror module.
Local authorities say the raids followed intelligence and earlier arrests that helped trace the network. Officials reported that nearly 360 kg of explosive-grade chemical — identified as ammonium nitrate, not military RDX — was recovered from a rented flat near Faridabad, along with rifles, pistols, live ammunition, bomb timers, remote controls, walkie-talkies, batteries, wiring and other IED components. Police warned that the seized material was sufficient to make hundreds of explosive devices and could have caused massive damage if used.
Several suspects were taken into custody during the raids, including people with medical backgrounds and community links. Police say the group had been planning attacks in the Delhi-NCR area and that initial inquiries point to possible connections with known extremist organisations. One suspect remains at large and search operations continue as investigators expand the probe.
In a related development, law-enforcement teams in another state arrested individuals suspected of plotting to use a dangerous toxin. That separate case is under investigation by counter-terror units and has raised additional security concerns nationwide.
Authorities have increased security and surveillance in sensitive locations and major public areas around the capital. Investigators are analysing electronic devices, financial records and communication data to map the full network and determine whether there are more accomplices or overseas links. Police stress that quick intelligence sharing and cooperative action between states prevented what could have been a very serious attack.
